Paint Happy and Cook Healthy at Lake Tahoe 2012

Workshop theme

The 4/1/2-day workshop holds at Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center, a historical place with its inspirational beauty at the waterfront of Lake Tahoe, about 3 miles from South Tahoe City. This workshop is focus on learning watercolor and Chinese painting techniques, healthy Chinese home cooking and Tai-Chi (a slow movement exercise). At this workshop you study the following:
1. Two styles of Chinese painting: the spontaneous style and the detail style.
2. Lian Zhen's watercolor painting techniques including the color pouring and blending.
3. Cook a vegetarian Chinese family dinner with 5 courses.
4. Tai-Chi.
You will bring several finish paintings and recipes of the Chinese food home.

Location

Lodging and workshop are in the same building, the Tahoe Center (each room has a bath) at the Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center. It is about 1 hour 15 minutes from Reno/Tahoe International Airport. Each day there are about 10 Airport shuttles making round trips from the airport to South Lake Tahoe (www.southtahoeexpress.com. Sept. 9 (Sunday)
4:30pm - 6:30pm: Check-in

Sept. 10 to 13 (Monday to Thursday)
7:30am - 8:00am: Tai-Chi
8:00am - 9:00am: Breakfast
9:00am - Noon: Chinese painting (Monday and Tuesday), Watercolor (Wednesday and Thursday)
Noon -1:00pm: Lunch
2:00pm - 6:00pm: Chinese painting (Monday and Tuesday), Watercolor (Wednesday and Thursday)
6:00pm - 7:00pm: Dinner

Chinese cooking demo and dinner on Thursday 5pm - 8:30pm.

Sept . 14 (Friday)
7:15am - 7:35am: Tai-Chi
7:45am - 8:45am: Chinese dumpling breakfast
9:00am-11:am: Painting critics
11:00am-12:00am: Clean up

Fee:
1. Student: $880.00 includes lodging for 5 nights (double room occupancy, single room occupancy add $200.00), tuition, three meals each day from Monday to Thursday (one Chinese dinner on Thursday, and the Chinese dumpling breakfast on Friday.
2. For non-student (students' spouses, family members and friends, one per student): $395.00 includes 5 night lodging (double occupancy), three meals each day from Monday to Thursday (one Chinese dinner on Thursday, and the Chinese dumpling breakfast on Friday).

Minimum number of students: 12. Maximum number of students: 22.
